“When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.”

–Luke 9:51

 

Though he knew what awaited him in Jerusalem, Jesus chose to walk toward it for our sake. He had faith that he would be resurrected, but that didn’t take away from the suffering of abandonment, ridicule, and execution. 

As we journey toward the cross with Jesus during Holy Week, we are invited to move toward suffering in our lives and in the lives of others with the same hope of resurrection life.
